On 9th September 2006, our good friends, Joyce and Bennet, took us to tour Victoria in Canada. One of the places we visited was the Craigdarroch Castle. This castle was built by Robert Dunsmuir in late 19th century to symbolize his wealth and assert his social status. Materials used to build this castle included stone, stained glass, wrought iron, and fine woods. Designers, craftsmen, and materials were drawn from all over North American through the transcontinental rail systems.Craigdarroch Castle was completed in 1890. However, Robert Dunsmuir died in 1889 before the completion of this gorgeous mansion.
